Football betting rules at Betika Bet

These Betika Bet football betting rules explain how football bet settlement works for players in Ethiopia, including regular time, extra time, penalties and interrupted matches. Settlement means deciding whether an accepted bet has won, lost or is void under the applicable rules.

Betika Bet aims to settle football bets according to published market rules and official event data. Before placing a bet, check the market name, the period covered, the match status and any special conditions in your bet slip. A market is the specific outcome you are betting on, such as Match Result or Total Goals.

Specific market conditions take priority over this general explanation. Read them alongside the Terms and Conditions. Do not assume that every bet covers the whole match, extra time or penalties.

Standard settlement time: 90 minutes

For most football markets, settlement is based on 90 minutes of play plus referee-added stoppage time. Stoppage time, also called added time, compensates for interruptions within each half. It is not extra time.

Extra time and penalty shootouts are excluded unless the market name or rules clearly include them. “Full time” usually means the end of regular time for standard match markets; always check the stated period.

  • Match Result / 1X2: home win, draw or away win after regular time.
  • Double Chance: two of those three outcomes covered by one selection.
  • Total Goals: goals scored within the specified period, compared with the selected line.
  • Handicap: the result after applying the stated goal adjustment.
  • Both Teams to Score: whether each team scores within the specified period.

These markets normally cover 90 minutes plus stoppage time. First-half, second-half and other period-specific markets cover only their stated period.

When extra time counts

Extra time is an additional playing period used in some knockout matches when regular time does not decide the tie. Extra time football betting applies only where the market expressly includes that period.

Look for wording such as “including extra time”. Markets labelled “To Qualify”, “Winner of Tie”, “Team to Lift the Trophy” or “Outright Winner” concern progression or the eventual competition winner rather than necessarily the 90-minute result. Their rules determine whether extra time and shootouts count.

For example, Team A can draw after 90 minutes and still qualify. A 90-minute 1X2 selection on Team A would lose, while a To Qualify selection could win under rules that include the later deciding stages.

How penalties are settled

A penalty taken during play is different from a penalty shootout held to decide a tied match.

  • Penalty during the match: a scored penalty counts as a goal if the market covers that playing period.
  • Penalty shootout: shootout goals do not normally count towards standard Total Goals or change the 90-minute Match Result.
  • Qualification or trophy markets: the shootout outcome may decide the selection where the market rules include it.

A market that includes extra time does not automatically include shootout goals. Check the penalty shootout betting rules for that selection separately.

Cancelled, postponed and abandoned matches

A cancelled match does not take place; a postponed match is moved to a later time; an abandoned match starts but stops before completion. The applicable event-completion deadline must come from Betika Bet’s published rules, not an assumed 24-, 48- or 72-hour period.

Applicable completion deadline: [Betika Bet compliance team to confirm the deadline and resumption conditions before publication].

  • Cancelled before kick-off: bets may be void under the cancellation rules.
  • Postponed before kick-off: bets may remain valid if the match takes place within the applicable deadline; otherwise, the voiding rules apply.
  • Abandoned after kick-off: unresolved markets may be void. A market already conclusively decided before the stoppage may stand if the rules permit it.
  • Resumed later: settlement depends on whether the resumed event meets the published conditions. Do not assume that every bet carries over to a replay or restart.
  • Official result changed later: any correction follows the result-review provisions in the site terms.
  • Incorrect event details: an erroneous date, team or market may require review under the error provisions; it does not automatically establish a winning selection.

A void bet is treated as invalid for settlement. Its stake is normally returned for a single bet; in a multiple bet, the affected selection is normally removed from the calculation under the applicable rules. A cancelled football match bet is not necessarily treated identically to every other interrupted event.

Live football betting settlement

In Betika Bet live, odds and market availability can change quickly. A submitted bet may face an acceptance delay or be rejected before confirmation. Submitting a selection is not proof that it has been accepted.

A goal, red card, penalty, dangerous attack or VAR review can trigger an odds change or market suspension—a temporary pause in betting. An unconfirmed request may be declined or require confirmation at updated odds, depending on the acceptance settings and rules.

On-screen scores and match clocks can be delayed. Live football betting settlement relies on the applicable official data, not solely on what appeared on the screen when you submitted the bet.

Odds changes and bet confirmation

Odds show the price attached to a selection. The accepted price is the one recorded in the confirmed bet, subject to the published provisions for errors and corrections.

If odds change before acceptance, the system may offer a revised price or reject the request. Check your odds-change settings, stake, market and period before confirming, especially during live football. Afterwards, check the bet record for its accepted or rejected status.

An obvious pricing or technical error may be reviewed under the site terms. This is separate from an ordinary football odds change before acceptance.

VAR, official data and result corrections

VAR, the video assistant referee process, can lead to a goal being disallowed or a penalty or disciplinary decision being revised. A displayed incident is not necessarily a confirmed event for settlement.

Markets may be suspended while a decision is checked, and settlement may wait for confirmed data. If an official source corrects a result or statistic after settlement, any adjustment must follow Betika Bet’s published result-correction provisions.

If you question a settlement, keep the bet reference, market name, accepted odds and any relevant screenshots so support can review the specific selection.

Player, cards and corners markets

These markets require particular attention to definitions:

  • Cards: check how yellow cards, second yellows and red cards are counted, and whether substitutes, bench staff or coaches are included.
  • Corners: settlement uses the relevant official statistics. Check whether the market requires a corner to be taken, rather than merely awarded.
  • Player participation: a bet may be void if the player does not take part, but starting, substitute and minimum-participation conditions depend on the market.
  • Player goals: own goals are normally excluded from goalscorer selections unless the rules say otherwise. Official scorer attribution matters.

Check the specific market rules before placing a bet; do not apply one player or statistics market’s conditions to another.

Examples of football bet settlement

Scenario: Team A draws 1–1 after 90 minutes, then wins in extra time.
Settlement: a 90-minute 1X2 bet on Team A loses. The regular-time result is a draw.
Scenario: regular time ends 0–0, and Team B wins a shootout.
Settlement: a 90-minute Total Goals Over 0.5 bet loses. Shootout goals are excluded.
Scenario: a match is cancelled before kick-off.
Settlement: if the applicable cancellation rules require voiding, a single-bet stake is returned. Check for any specific exception.
Scenario: a live bet is submitted during a VAR review.
Settlement: the request may remain pending, require acceptance at revised odds or be rejected. Only a confirmed accepted bet proceeds to settlement.
Scenario: Team A qualifies after a shootout.
Settlement: a To Qualify bet on Team A wins if that market includes the shootout outcome.

Responsible football betting

Football betting should be entertainment, not a way to earn income or recover losses. Set an affordable budget and stop when betting causes stress or financial pressure.

See Responsible Gaming for information about limits, breaks, self-exclusion and support. Betting is restricted to eligible adults; check the Age Restriction Policy before opening or using an account.
